Accommodation Inspirations Part 3 - Waterfront Motel at Akaroa, Banks Peninsula

Top Tip - stay at Waterfront Apartments and Motel which are exactly that (no false marketing here I promise) - on the waterfront. Literally only metres from dipping your toes in the sea from your balcony.

It’s also central for the small township with lots of cafes and restaurants close by. But it is also private and quiet enough to make you feel you have the spectacular sunset, that nature kindly provides, all to yourself. Sit on your private balcony watching the sunset across the water and behind the sloping hills beyond is quite something. Mind you, so is the local bird life, there are numerous seabirds, rare New Zealand seagulls, Oystercatchers, geese, ducks, you name it. Then there are the land-based locals such as fantails and Kereru that swoop and squawk inches from your balcony seat.

The room is comfortable with a small sofa area, dining table and kitchen complete with a stove top and microware - ideal for self-caterers or those that have discovered the magnificence of the Akaroa Butchery around the corner.

A weekend in Akaroa can be enjoyed either on land or water and some awesome ideas to whet your appetite for this gorgeous spot will follow in the next week or so.
